It's Public Works Week!

Join the Mayor and Members of Council, along with City staff to celebrate the incredible services of our Public Work Crew from May 19 to 25! The kick-off ceremony and flag raising

event will take place on Wednesday May 22, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Joint Operations Centre [2800 Rutherford Road].

This week will highlight all the great work that goes on in our city unnoticed. Services being recognized include: recycling, traffic engineering, animal safety, storm water drainage, transportation services, forestry, public library, recreation services and more! Through interactive demonstrations the public will see all the great machinery we use including dump trucks, back hoes, and street sweepers. This raises public awareness as to why the city does what it does.

Fun-filled festivities for your whole family will be held, rain or shine, on Saturday May 25, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Joint Operations Centre [2800 Rutherford Rd].

There will be music and live entertainment as well as a community BBQ (Enbridge). Loads of fun activities are planned for kids, including a bike rodeo, face painting, balloon twisting, photo booth, waste diversion basketball, coloring tables, and a life size version of snakes and ladders! There will be a Meet and Greet with Mascots, rain barrel sales, bike repairs, a clothesline drive with Diabetes of Canada, plus raffles and PRIZES! Click here for a full list of events. There’s something for everyone! Bring the whole family! Watch this Promo Video for more details of the upcoming celebrations!
