P.A. Day Activities at Vaughan Public Libraries

This Monday is a P.A. Day, if you’re looking for something to do with your kids, there are many activities at every branch of the Vaughan Public Libraries. There are a few different programs to participate in, including Touch a Truck, Green Your PA Day and Mechanize IT!.

At Pleasant Ridge Library there will be the recurring program called Touch a Truck. This is the biggest event according to Vaughan Public Libraries’ Children’s Advocate, Andrea Wesson. The activity will allow children to explore a variety of cars in the library’s parking lot. This fun program will feature a fire truck, ambulance, police car, school bus, and more. The children will be able to look at each truck, sit inside and even talk to the drivers to learn about the people that service their community.

This day full of fun is perfect for curious and truck-loving children to learn and explore on their PA Day. Visit the Pleasant Ridge Library between 10 a.m and 2 p.m to look at a few interesting cars and talk to the people that drive them!

Four of the Vaughan Public Libraries will be hosting an event called Green Your PA Day for the first time. This will be a day filled with various eco-themed activities at each of the branches that are hosting the event. VPL will be hosting this event after being inspired by the, “...TD summer reading club’s theme: the natural world and their own great connection to nature and environmental sustainability,” Wesson said. To get the kids excited for this summer’s theme, bring them to any of the following branches for different activities: Bathurst Clark Resource Library, Vaughan Civic Centre Resource Library, Pierre Berton Resource Library or Kleinburg Library.

From planting tomato seeds at the Civic Centre branch to having an eco-themed puppet show at the Pierre Berton branch, there are so many activities for children to learn and enjoy the outdoors this PA Day. If your kids love to learn about nature, head to the library between 11 a.m and 3 p.m, except the Kleinburg Library, which opens at 1 p.m., for many eco-themed activities!

Another recurring themed event is Mechanize IT!, which is all about learning about mechanics, machines and engineering through fun activities. There will be activities that include building Lego and using magformers at the Dufferin Clark Library. At the Maple Library there will be snap circuits and a zip line and Wesson is especially excited for the button making activity at the Woodbridge Library. These activities and many more will be held between 11 a.m and 3 p.m.

“The Vaughan Public Libraries has a lot of very strong STEAM programming (science, technology engineering arts and math), so this theme fits in really well with that,” Wesson said.

Every year there are many different programs held by the branches of VPL on P.A. Days with varying themes and activities. The libraries welcome all families to have fun and participate in activities at the library this PA Day.
